Upper Delaware River Map
Narrowsburg and the vicinity surrounding the hamlet offers the visitor many areas of interest.

The Big Eddy

The Big Eddy in Narrowsburg is the deepest section of the Delaware River at 113 feet in depth.

This area can be viewed from the deck on Main Street in town. On many occasions, bald eagles can be viewed here as well.

There is often a whirlpool at this site when the river level is high. There are two theories concerning this hole. First - that it is a long-drowned "plunge pool" from a glacial waterfall. Second, that it is a pothole scoured out by erosion, with the smooth rocks at the bottom being the tools that did the job.

The Tusten Mountain Trail

Trailhead is at the Ten Mile River public river access site off New York Route 97 halfway between Barryville and Narrowsburg, New York.

Start at the small kiosk and bulletin board, located from May through September near the designated parking lot.

From the kiosk turn left onto the paved road, then turn left again onto the first gravel road beyond the access.

Please note: Yellow marked Tusten Mountain Trail and the red dot trail connecting it to the roadway are the ONLY Ten Mile River Boy Scout Camp trails open to the public. No other red dot trails are available for public use.
